Calm, cool and collected is the best way to describe netminder Hunter Arntsen (pictured above). He was certainly on his game Sunday night at the Rutland Arena, stopping 44 of 45 shots, in helping Osoyoos defeat Kelowna 4-1.
The Coyotes improved to 3-0 against the Chiefs this season, winning for the third time in just over two weeks, outscoring them 11-2 and in this case, snapping a four game losing streak.
Kelowna got on the board roughly nine minutes in, but Jarrod Gale with his first of two goals, followed by a Jonas Bourchier tally, gave Osoyoos a 2-1 lead after the opening period.
Gale’s second of the game, late in the middle period, put the Coyotes ahead 3-1 heading into the third.
Bronson Seymour’s empty net marker with 2:35 remaining iced the victory. Seymour also added a pair of assists.
Osoyoos was outshot 45-29, but Arntsen held down the fort as the Coyotes regained sole possession of the fourth and final playoff spot in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, by one point over idle Summerland.
Definitely a huge win going into the Christmas break. Something the Osoyoos Coyotes will savour during the holidays.
