The Osoyoos Coyotes outshot the Summerland Steam 55-31, including 26-7 in the third period, however there was little finish during a 5-2 defeat on Friday night at the Sun Bowl Arena.
The Steam scored first, but Rylan Konecnsi’s powerplay goal tied the game and with it came a showering of ‘stuffies’ from the crowd, thanks to the annual “Christmas Toy Toss.”
Summerland went ahead 2-1 after 20-minutes, padding its lead to 3-1 entering the third.
An Austin Rampone man advantage marker, sandwiched around a couple more by the Steam, the latter into an empty net, sent the Coyotes reeling to their fourth straight setback.
Hayden Lee suffered the netminding loss.
The win pulls Summerland into a fourth place tie with the Coyotes in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, the final playoff spot, while holding a game in-hand.
Osoyoos plays its final game prior to the Christmas break, Sunday night (Dec. 17th) in Kelowna.
After that, the Coyotes and Posse have a home-and-home, Friday, December 29th and Saturday, December 30th. First in Princeton and then Osoyoos. Saturday night’s Game Sponsor is OCU Osoyoos, the Osoyoos Credit Union.
