The Osoyoos Coyotes were just seconds away from an exciting win on Saturday night at the Sun Bowl Arena. However, they gave up the game tying goal at the 19:39 mark of the third period, eventually dropping a 5-4 overtime decision to the North Okanagan Knights.
Osoyoos grabbed an early 2-0 first period advantage, which increased to a seemingly comfortable 3-0 cushion early in the second.
The Knights crept to within one at 3-2, before the middle period was out, getting their second goal only six-seconds prior to the intermission.
North Okanagan stormed all the way back to tie things at 3-3, but the Coyotes went ahead 4-3, a lead they held until the final minute of regulation time. The Knights completed the comeback just 1:08 into three-on-three sudden death.
Spencer Fleck scored twice, with James Poole and Jarrod Gale adding singles for Osoyoos. Poole and Parker MacDonald each had a pair of assists.
Hunter Arntsen was tagged with the loss in goal. North Okanagan outshot the Coyotes 42-33.
The one point does move Osoyoos into a third place tie with Kelowna in the Bill Ohlhausen Division. To avoid any tie-breaking scenarios, all the Coyotes have to do is beat the Chiefs at home in regulation time next Friday night (Feb. 16th) to finish third and set up a first round post-season match-up against the North Okanagan Knights.
