The Osoyoos Coyotes failed in their bid to vacate the basement of the Bill Ohlhausen Division, suffering a 3-2 home ice setback to the Sicamous Eagles on Friday night.
After a scoreless first, it took the Eagles just 37-seconds to get on the board in the middle period. However, Taynon Charters tied things less than two minutes later.
Sicamous regained the lead shorthanded before the period was out and added some insurance early in the third. That was a goal the Eagles would need as Ethan Torres trimmed the deficit to one at 3-2 with 6:15 remaining. The Coyotes pushed hard late, but just couldn’t get the equalizer.
Chase Campbell had all three Sicamous markers.
Osoyoos outshot the Eagles 42-31. Sam Koester took the loss in net.
The Coyotes have fallen three points back of fifth place Sicamous in the Bill Ohlhausen and seven points out of a potential Doug Birks Division crossover playoff spot. They’ll really have to start the new year strong if entertaining any hope of a post-season berth. It won’t be easy knowing 2026 gets underway featuring four straight road games, which include stops in Fernie (Jan. 9th), Columbia Valley (Jan. 10th), Golden (Jan. 11th) and Revelstoke (Jan. 16th).
