Austin Rampone (pictured above) scored 2:34 into overtime to give the Osoyoos Coyotes a 3-2 victory over the Eagles, Saturday night in Sicamous.
The Coyotes were somewhat lifeless through the first two periods, with the Eagles up 1-0 after 40 minutes, doubling the lead by the halfway point of the third.
Just over two minutes later, Spencer Fleck’s powerplay marker, thanks to a picturesque feed from Mason Rudolph, narrowed the deficit to 2-1.
The urgency continued into the final minute. As Hunter Arntsen sat on the bench in favour of an extra attacker, Fleck tied the game with only 37 seconds remaining in regulation, banking the puck off Sicamous goaltender Michael Makowsky from behind the net to force three-on-three sudden death.
From an offensive zone face-off, Steve Andrusiak swatted the puck to Rampone who completed the comeback.
Trailing late and escaping with two points is certainly a confidence builder for Osoyoos, who snapped a three game losing streak, improving to 3-4-0-0 on the young season.
Arntsen kept the Coyotes in the game throughout, picking up the win in goal. The Eagles held a 29-21 shot advantage.
The Osoyoos Coyotes get another shot at Princeton for the second time in five days, hosting the Bill Ohlhausen Division leading Posse on Wednesday night at the Sun Bowl. Start time is 7:00 o’clock, featuring Game Sponsor Valley First.
