The Osoyoos Coyotes were on the wrong end of a good old fashion whooping, Friday night in Revelstoke, blanked 9-0 by the Grizzlies.
Nothing about this game was pretty from an Osoyoos point of view. In their defence, six regulars were absent from the Coyotes line-up, due to illness, injury or personal reasons.
Revelstoke evened out the onslaught, scoring three times in each period.
Jaiden Jakubowski was in the Osoyoos net for all nine. Despite the sizeable deficit, shots were relatively reasonable at 45-33 in favour of the Grizzlies.
It certainly didn’t help that the Coyotes went zero for six on the powerplay and actually allowed shorthanded goals during two of those man advantage opportunities.
Coupled with Kelowna’s win over Princeton on Friday night, Osoyoos now finds itself in the basement of the Bill Ohlhausen Division, one point back of the Chiefs.
Although not yet mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, the Coyotes would need a miracle to grab a post-season berth at this point.
Things don’t get any easier with tomorrow night’s (Jan. 25th) road encounter against the Posse.
