Coyotes Tame the Mustangs!

The first period on Friday night in Williams Lake was by far their best of the young season for the Osoyoos Coyotes, who tallied three times in just over five minutes to take a 3-0 lead, enroute to a 6-2 victory over the Mustangs.

Osoyoos made it 4-0 early in the second, before Williams Lake got on the board, however still trailing by three at 4-1 after 40 minutes.

The Mustangs scored a powerplay goal early in the third period to trim the deficit to 4-2, only to see the Coyotes add two insurance markers late, just 29 seconds apart.

Six different players provided the Coyotes offence, including Matthew Lowry, Spencer Fleck, Austin Cooper, Austin Rampone, Logan Messer and Dexter Materi.

In highlighting a few — Fleck’s came on the powerplay, while Messer’s was the result of a two-on-nothing, shorthanded breakaway.  Meantime, Materi tucked home an individual effort after cutting to the net from the right wing.

Materi, Kyle Cyr and Myles Hayne each added a pair of assists.

Hunter Arntsen earned the win in net, turning aside 36 of 38 pucks sent his way.  Osoyoos held a 44-38 shot advantage, including margins of 18-12 in the opening period and 17-6 through the final 20 minutes.

The Coyotes conclude a two game road trip to the Cariboo, Saturday night (September 28th) in Quesnel.
