Saturday night provided one of the most entertaining games on Sun Bowl Arena ice in quite some time, which saw the Osoyoos Coyotes outlast the Quesnel River Rush 5-4 in a shootout.
Things went back and forth the entire contest, with neither team allowing the other any more than a one goal advantage. It was tied 2-2 after the first period, 3-3 following the second and 4-4 at the end of regulation. Quesnel forced overtime by scoring at the 18:44 mark of the third period.
The shootout was definitely an oddity as five of six players buried pucks during the one-on-one encounters. Mason Rudolph, Koehn Obuck and Josh Douglas, with game clincher, took care of business for the Coyotes.
Josh Hanson, Obuck, Douglas and Spencer Fleck had the Osoyoos goals during the usual 60 minutes of play.
Both netminders were tested heavily. The Coyotes outshot the River Rush 57-46 through regulation and five minutes of extra time. Matthew Sowinski picked up the victory.

The 4-4-0-0 Osoyoos Coyotes host Grand Forks next Friday night (Oct. 24th), prior to a Saturday night (Oct. 25th) road trip to Kelowna. The former gets underway at 7:00 o’clock and is sponsored by the Owl Pub & Liquor Store.
