Inconsistent play has plagued the Osoyoos Coyotes for most of the season.
Following an impressive 3-0 shutout of 100 Mile House the night before, the Coyotes laid an egg on Saturday night in Chase, bowing 6-3 to the Heat.
Osoyoos looked unprepared in allowing Chase to score three unanswered first period goals.
The Coyotes did show signs of life in the second, pulling to within one at 3-2 and then 4-3 after 40-minutes.
You would think a late second period marker should create third period momentum. However, the energy level remained stagnant and the Heat tallied twice more in the third to put the game out of reach.
Parker MacDonald, Nelson Webster and Caden Cygan scored for Osoyoos.
The Heat outshot the Coyotes by a rather lopsided 40-23 margin, with Hunter Arntsen displaying rare struggles in net.
The loss prevented Osoyoos from gaining any ground on second place North Okanagan in the Bill Ohlhausen Division as the Knights were shelled by Princeton. To make matters even worse, Kelowna beat Summerland in overtime to move into a third place tie with the Coyotes.
That sets up a crucial showdown against the Chiefs, Wednesday night (Feb. 7th) at the Sun Bowl Arena. Face-off time is 7:00 o’clock, featuring Game Sponsor Nk’Mip Cellars Winery.
