Jarrod Gale scored 17-seconds into three-on-three overtime and Hayden Lee stopped all 41 shots he faced as the Osoyoos Coyotes blanked the Steam 1-0, Friday night in Summerland.
Gale was sent in home free with a perfect saucer pass from Rylan Konecsni. Levi Brewer got the play started by feeding Konecsni.
Despite three full period of goalless hockey, it’s not as if both clubs didn’t have their fair share of chances. Each went 0 for 5 on the powerplay.
Final shots were 45-41 in favour of the Coyotes. Hayden Lee was stellar in net, recording his first KIJHL shutout.
Osoyoos received some help from Princeton, who crushed Kelowna 6-0. However, North Okanagan had a 5-2 victory at Chase. All of the aforementioned results leave the Coyotes just one point behind the third place Chiefs, with a game in hand, as well as five points back of the second place Knights. Osoyoos would have to win all three of its remaining games and North Okanagan lose the three games it has left, in order for the Coyotes to vault into second place for home ice advantage in the opening round of the playoffs.
