There’s no denying that Saturday night’s game at the Sun Bowl Arena was highly entertaining, despite not turning out the way the Coyotes had hoped.
The Grand Forks Border Bruins scored with just six seconds left in regulation time to edge Osoyoos 4-3, before another large turnout of 381 spectators.
What made this particularly hard to swallow is how close the Coyotes were to forcing overtime, after rallying for two goals, at 17:14 and 18:27 of the third period, to erase a late 3-1 deficit.
Scott Dyck tallied twice for Osoyoos, with Logan Messer adding the other marker. Hunter Arntsen suffered the setback in net, although doing everything possible to keep the game close as the Coyotes were outshot 51-29.
Certainly not the way the Osoyoos Coyotes wanted to depart on their six game road swing, which begins Tuesday night (Jan. 9th) at Princeton, also including stops in Creston Valley, Columbia Valley, Kelowna, North Okanagan and Princeton again. The next home game isn’t for three weeks, Saturday, January 27th when the Spokane Braves come to town, featuring Game Sponsor FortisBC.
With both Kelowna and North Okanagan winning on Saturday night, the Coyotes have fallen three points back of the Chiefs and Knights, remaining in fourth place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, four points ahead of last place Summerland.
