It’s one of those match ups you really should win. A home game against a divisional opponent, whom you have a chance to distance yourself from in the standings. However, that plan went awry in a 4-1 loss to the North Okanagan Knights on Wednesday night at the Sun Bowl.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first period, with Logan Messer connecting on the powerplay for the Coyotes.
Osoyoos only trailed 2-1 all the way until the 14:25 mark of the third, when the Knights got some insurance from Colton Fleming, his hat trick goal, while on the man advantage. An empty netter with 15-seconds remaining made the end result look even worse.
Hunter Arntsen was the losing goaltender, despite the Coyotes holding a 47-34 edge in shots, including 22-11 during the opening period.
The final home game prior to the Christmas break is Friday night (Dec. 15th) at 7:00 as the Summerland Steam pays a visit. Osoyoos sits alone in fourth place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, just two points ahead of the Steam. Hence the importance of this meeting.
The highlight of the evening will no doubt be the annual “Christmas Toy Toss.” Bring a new or ‘gently used’ stuffie to the game to throw on the ice when the Coyotes score their first goal.
