Time ran out on the Osoyoos Coyotes, Saturday night at Nelson. Osoyoos erased a 3-0 third period deficit, scoring twice but falling one goal short in a 3-2 loss to the Leafs.
The Coyotes didn’t get on the board until just over five minutes into the final period when Mason Rudolph converted a breakaway.
Down 3-1 with netminder Jaiden Jakubowski on the bench for an extra attacker, Scott Dyck shovelled the puck home off a goal mouth scramble. However, there were only 39 seconds remaining when that happened and no more offensive chances came about.
Nelson outshot Osoyoos 41-22, making it obvious the outcome could have been much worse if not for the stellar play of Jakubowski.
Next weekend has the Coyotes back at the Sun Bowl for a home doubleheader. The top two teams in the Eddie Mountain Division provide the opposition, the Kimberley Dynamiters on Friday night (Feb. 14th) and Fernie Ghostriders Saturday night (Feb. 15th), both getting underway at 7:00 o’clock.
