Russell Newman (pictured above) stopped all 32 shots as the Osoyoos Coyotes shutout the Sicamous Eagles 2-0, Saturday night at the Sun Bowl Arena.
Kyle Cyr’s goal at 12:25 of the second period held up until the dying moments, when Logan Messer’s empty netter with 17 seconds remaining added some insurance.
The win snaps a five game losing streak for the Coyotes, who outshot the Eagles 37-32 overall.
It was a workmanlike and entertaining effort, combined with a flawless goaltending performance. Things certainly look promising in that department moving forward, thanks to the one-two punch of Newman and Jaiden Jakubowski.
Osoyoos visits Spokane next Friday night (Feb. 7th), before travelling to Nelson on Saturday night (Feb. 8th).
