If the Coyotes had the impression that Saturday night’s game against Spokane would be a cakewalk, they were sadly mistaken. The harsh reality was an embarrassing 8-2 drubbing at the hands of the Braves.
The game was tied 1-1 after the opening period, with Parker MacDonald scoring his first goal since joining Osoyoos.
Spokane took a 2-1 advantage early in the second, only to see Bronson Seymour even things at 2-2 prior to the midway point of the period.
The Braves tallied twice more to take a healthy, but hardly insurmountable, 4-2 cushion into the final 20-minutes. However, that’s when the wheels fell off for the Coyotes. Four additional unanswered goals by Spokane more than sealed the lopsided win.
Hayden Lee allowed eight goals on just 37 shots, but pretty much found himself hung out to dry by his teammates once the game was getting out of reach. Osoyoos actually put 45 pucks on net.
Admittedly, a very lifeless weekend, during which the Coyotes were outscored 15-4.
Despite the disappointing results, Osoyoos remains tied with Kelowna for third place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, although having fallen six points back of second place North Okanagan.
The Coyotes take to the road next weekend, visiting 100 Mile House on Friday night (Feb. 2nd), before travelling to Chase, Saturday night (Feb. 3rd).
