Princeton was shamed 5-1 on home ice by the Coyotes, Friday night, which left the Posse in an ornery mood entering the rematch, 24 hours later at the Sun Bowl. That definitely showed during Saturday’s 8-2 romp over Osoyoos, in front of a season high crowd of 393.
The Coyotes trailed 3-0 after the first period, a deficit that increased to 6-0 by the 11:34 mark of the second. The one-sided result initiated some chippy play, especially in the third period, with the teams combining for over 100 minutes in penalties and pending suspensions.
Rylan Konecsni and Nelson Webster scored for Osoyoos, far too little, too late.
Hunter Arntsen faced some unfamiliar struggles in net, allowing four goals, before being replaced by Hayden Lee, who gave up four more. Final shots were relatively close at 39-35 in favour of Princeton.
A weekend, home-and-home split with the Bill Ohlhausen Division leading Posse isn’t the worst-case scenario.
