A three game winning streak came to an abrupt end on Saturday night with an embarrassing 9-2 loss to the visiting Columbia Valley Rockies.
Oddly enough, it was pretty close until late in the second period.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first, but Columbia Valley scored three in-a-row in the middle period, including twice in only 1:12.
Spencer Fleck on the powerplay made it 4-2, however the Rockies restored their three goal lead before the period was out.
The final 20 minutes were a complete disaster. Columbia Valley added four more unanswered against a Coyotes squad that looked as though it had given up. Fatigue certainly appeared to set in following three games in four days.
Dexter Materi had the other Osoyoos marker. Mason Rudolph added a pair of assists.
Hunter Arntsen was in net for the entire debacle. The Rockies outshot the Coyotes 43-28.
Combined with other results from the night, the Osoyoos Coyotes have fallen back into last place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division at 5-5-0-0. Mind you, just three points back of second place Sicamous as the division continues to offer the league’s tightest race.
It’s an important home-and-home versus the Centennials next weekend, beginning Friday night (Oct. 25th) in Merritt. The scene shifts to the Sun Bowl Arena on Saturday night. Start time then is 7:00 o’clock, featuring Game Sponsor Otter Co-op.
