The Grizzlies built a 4-0 first period advantage, before cruising to a 5-0 shutout of the Osoyoos Coyotes, Friday night in Revelstoke.
Despite allowing four goals and being outshot 17-12, that’s when the Coyotes arguably played their best hockey. They had decent scoring chances, including a disallowed goal as a result of the puck being directed with a high stick.
Add to that at least a couple netminder Sam Koester would like to have had back and the lead became seemingly insurmountable in facing the defence stingy Grizzlies.
Koester was practically unbeatable following a difficult start, stopping 52 of 57 shots Revelstoke put on target.
Osoyoos went zero for four on the powerplay, dropping its 12th straight to the Grizzlies dating back to the 2021/2022 Season.
The Coyotes are at home for the first time in over four weeks on Saturday night (Jan.17th) as the Kelowna Chiefs visit the Sun Bowl. Face-off time is 7:00 o’clock, featuring Game Sponsor the Osoyoos Firefighters Society.
