The Border Bruins scored three times on their first three shots of the final period in defeating the Osoyoos Coyotes 4-1, Friday night in Grand Forks.
The goals came just 1:40 apart, opening up a tight game that was tied 1-1 after two periods.
Marcus Dumas had a short-handed tally for Osoyoos late in the opening period.
Jaiden Jakubowski suffered the loss in net. Shots were close at 43-38 in favour of the Border Bruins.
Take away the brief third period lapse and the Coyotes were once again stride for stride with the defending KIJHL Champs.
One obvious area that needs a boost is the powerplay. Osoyoos went 0 for 5, which included struggles during a five-minute man advantage in the third. Mind you, each game has shown noticeable improvement in the team’s overall play.
The Coyotes hope to pick up a win in their final pre-season outing on Saturday night (September 13th) against the Kelowna Chiefs. Start time is 7:00 o’clock at the Sun Bowl Arena, featuring an $8.00 Walk-Up Admission charge.
