The Osoyoos Coyotes dropped a 3-2 decision to the Rebels, Friday night in Castlegar.
Dexter Materi put the Coyotes ahead 1-0, converting a penalty shot after being hauled down on a breakaway.
However, the Rebels evened things in the final minute of the opening period.
Castlegar had a total of 10 minutes on the powerplay in the second period, including a double minor. The Rebels were only able to connect once with the man advantage, but outshot Osoyoos 18-4 in taking a 3-1 lead into the third.
Despite their fair share of powerplay chances in the final 20 minutes, all the Coyotes could muster was a Spencer Fleck goal during a five minute man advantage. A 14-5 shot dominance and late urgency weren’t enough as Osoyoos failed in its attempt to tie the game and force overtime.
Hunter Arntsen suffered the loss in net.
Winless in their last three outings, the Coyotes complete weekend play on Saturday night (Nov. 9th) at Fruitvale against the formidable Beaver Valley Nitehawks.
