Ethan Torres (pictured above) scored with just 3:56 remaining to lift the Osoyoos Coyotes past the River Rush 4-3, Friday night in Quesnel, bringing an end to five straight losses. For Ethan, it was his third of the game after connecting twice in the opening period.
However, that’s not the only Torres who left this mark. Twin brother Jake had the other Osoyoos goal in the third period. He also helped to set up Ethan for the game winner.
The Coyotes never trailed, taking a 2-0 first period lead, but the River Rush tied things at 2-2 before the second period was out. Osoyoos went back in front 3-2 in the third. Quesnel again countered, before Ethan Torres had the final say.
Shots were 33-25 for the River Rush, with Sam Koester earning the goaltending decision.
One of the league’s top powerplays was held to two goals on five chances by the Coyotes, while Osoyoos clicked on its lone man advantage opportunity. That type of penalty disparity certainly didn’t seem warranted.
Definitely a promising start to a three game Cariboo road trip, which continues on Saturday night (Dec. 13th) in Williams Lake, prior to a Sunday afternoon (Dec. 14th) venture to 100 Mile House.
