Despite being out of the playoffs, the Osoyoos Coyotes deserve some credit for not throwing in the towel.
Osoyoos played Eddie Mountain Division leading Kimberley tough, dropping a 5-3 decision to the Dynamiters on Friday night at the Sun Bowl Arena.
Mathieu Lessard (pictured above) scored twice, with Brenan Kearney getting his first Junior Hockey goal.
Lessard has recorded points in five of his last six games, including four goals and three assists.
The contest was tied 1-1 after 20 minutes. Kimberley tallied twice early in the second to go up 3-1, but the Coyotes pulled to within one at 3-2 before the period was out. The Dynamiters went back in front by a pair in the final period. However, Osoyoos made things interesting, connecting on the powerplay with just over two minutes remaining to trim the deficit to 4-3. The Coyotes third marker also came while Jaiden Jakubowski sat on the bench in favour of an extra attacker, the same place he was when Kimberley potted an empty netter in the dying seconds.
Shots were 49-37 for the Dynamiters. Jakubowski took the loss, albeit displaying another strong performance in the Osoyoos goal.
