The Osoyoos Coyotes were beaten 2-1, Sunday afternoon in 100 Mile House, a game that probably should have had a different result.
The Coyotes outshot the Wranglers 42-23 over the final two periods, including a 25-10 margin in the third. However, outside of Spencer Fleck’s late powerplay marker, just couldn’t buy a goal.
Both 100 Mile House tallies also came on the man advantage, midway through the second and third period respectively.
In a rare turn of events, directly off a face-off in the Osoyoos end with the Coyotes shorthanded, Chase Kunn attempted to rim the puck around the boards to clear the zone but inadvertently shot it behind a surprised Sam Koester. An own goal that actually turned out to be the game winner. Condolences to Chase, visibly beside himself following the miscue.
Offence was certainly at a premium in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House over the weekend. Osoyoos went almost six periods to the second without scoring. The Coyotes won in Quesnel on Friday night, thanks to an Ethan Torres goal at 16:04 of the third period. Oddly enough, Fleck’s effort came at 16:02 of the third on Sunday.
The loss prevented the Osoyoos Coyotes from overtaking Sicamous for fifth place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division. However, they’ll get that chance in person this Friday night (Dec. 19th) when the Eagles come to town for what will be the Coyotes final outing prior to the Christmas break.
