The Osoyoos Coyotes had arguably their best all-around effort to date and were rewarded with an entertaining 4-2 doubling of the league leading Princeton Posse, Wednesday night at the Sun Bowl Arena.
Things didn’t get off to too promising of a start after Princeton took just 32 seconds to get on the board.
However, Mason Rudolph tied the game at 1-1 before the first period was out.
Osoyoos grabbed 2-1 lead early in the second, thanks to Mathieu Lessard, but it didn’t last long. The Posse responded only 27 seconds later, leaving things deadlocked at 2-2 following 40 minutes.
Luca Pileggi put the Coyotes ahead to stay when his drive from the blueline deflected in off a Princeton player at the 8:19 mark of the final period.
Austin Cooper provided some empty net insurance with 30 second remaining.
Pileggi and Rudolph also added an assist apiece. For Mason Rudolph, Mathieu Lessard and Luca Pileggi, it was the first goal their Junior hockey career for each.
Hunter Arntsen played his usual stellar netminding in recording the win and was named the game’s first star. The Posse held a 36-29 shot advantage.
A second straight victory gets Osoyoos back to the .500 mark at 4-4-0-0 and moves the Coyotes into fourth place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, just two points back of both Revelstoke and Sicamous.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Osoyoos Coyotes, who travel to Chase on Friday night (Oct. 18th), before hosting Columbia Valley Saturday night (Oct. 19th). The latter gets underway at 7:00 o’clock, featuring Game Sponsor the Owl Pub.
