It was almost last shot wins on Saturday night at the Sun Bowl Arena as the Osoyoos Coyotes concluded pre-season play with a high scoring 8-6 victory over the Kelowna Chiefs.
The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period.
A strong second saw the Coyotes take a 5-3 advantage into the third.
The Chiefs drew even at 5-5 just over five minutes into the final 20 minutes, only to see Osoyoos score twice in just 12 seconds to regain its two goal cushion.
Kelowna pulled to within one at 7-6, before the Coyotes sealed things with an empty netter in the dying seconds.
Mathieu Lessard and Spencer Fleck each tallied twice. Matthew Lowry, Austin Cooper, Kaelen Halowaty and Scott Dyck had the other Osoyoos markers.
Local product Carter Sapach earned the goaltending decision. The Coyotes outshot the Chiefs 39-31 in earning their first exhibition win in four tries.
Next up for the Osoyoos Coyotes is Friday night’s (Sept. 20th) Regular Season opener at 100 Mile House. The following night (Sept. 21st), the Coyotes visit the Kelowna Chiefs.
