Badger Completes the Comeback in Overtime!

Tyler Badger scored 1:42 into three-on-three overtime to give the Coyotes a 3-2 decision over the Steam, Friday night in Summerland.

Badger sped down the right wing, cut toward the front of the net and slid the puck past Steam goaltender Ben Lewis, lifting Osoyoos to its fifth straight win.

Ryan Bester put the Coyotes in front 1-0 in the first period.  However, Summerland tallied twice in the second to take a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Jack Henderson tied the game with just 5:53 left in regulation time, setting the stage for Badger’s heroics.

Nathan Hannon and Ethan Floris both added a pair of assists.  Kenneth Marquart earned the victory in goal, stopping 22 of 24 shots.  Osoyoos outshot the Steam 40-24 overall, including 3-0 in overtime.

It’s the lone weekend game for the Coyotes, who improved to 26-2-2-3, now with 57 points.  They’ve all but clinched first place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, maintaining a healthy 21 point advantage over second place Kelowna.

Osoyoos hosts the North Okanagan Knights next Wednesday night (Jan. 26th) in a make-up game for the January 1st postponement.  Then the Kamloops Storm comes to town on Friday night (Jan. 28th).  Both get underway at 7:35 at the Sun Bowl Arena.
