Chiefs Outlast the Coyotes in a Shootout!

Saturday night’s game at the Sun Bowl Arena saw Kelowna squeak out a 6-5 shootout win, however the way three periods worth of scoring unfolded was quite unique.

The Chiefs took a 2-0 lead.  Osoyoos tallied three straight to go up 3-2.  Kelowna had the next three-in-row for a 5-3 cushion.  The Coyotes followed suit with two consecutive goals to force overtime at 5-5.

Osoyoos squandered a chance in the extra five minute period, failing to capitalize during a four-on-three powerplay.  The Chiefs found the mark on two of their three shootout opportunities.  The Coyotes went one for three, with only Curtiss Gordon successful.

Five different players scored for Osoyoos in regulation, including Dexter Materi, Austin Cooper, Spencer Fleck, Mathieu Lessard and Scott Dyck.  Tyler Seminoff and Austin Rampone had two assists apiece.  

Special teams came up big for both teams.  The Coyotes had a shorthanded and powerplay goal, while Kelowna connected three times with the man advantage.

Shots were 58-48 in favour of the Chiefs in the freewheeling affair.  Hunter Arnsten absorbed the loss in net.

The result leaves Osoyoos tied with Kelowna for fifth place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, but the Chiefs have played two fewer games.

The Coyotes are right back at it on Saturday night (Nov. 30th) against the Storm in Kamloops.
