What’s quickly becoming evident about this season’s Osoyoos Coyotes is that they never quit working and possess the ability to play with anyone.
The Coyotes may have lost 4-3 to the Kelowna Chiefs on Saturday night in Rutland. However, they competed hard, overcame a three goal deficit and had plenty of opportunities to steal a win from the league’s top point producing team.
The Chiefs led 3-0 in the second period, before Soren Brons-Douville, Austin Rampone and Mason Rudolph scored in less than an eight minute span to pull Osoyoos even at 3-3. Ethan Torres assisted on both the Brons-Douville and Rudoph markers.
After being outshot through the first two periods, the Coyotes found an extra gear in the third and dominated the shot clock to the tune of 20-4. The only unfortunate part was the inability to grab the lead during three powerplays, one of which happened at the end of regulation and spilled into overtime.
Former Osoyoos Coyote Rylan Konescsni tallied 2:29 into the extra five minute session to give Kelowna the victory.
Matthew Sowinski suffered his first defeat of the year. Final shots were 42-39 favouring the Chiefs.
Next up for the Coyotes is a visit from the Sicamous Eagles, Wednesday night (Oct. 29th) at 7:00. Game Sponsor is the Spirit Ridge Resort.
