Game One Comeback Falls Short!

The Osoyoos Coyotes found themselves playing catch-up the entire time, eventually dropping the opening game of their Bill Olhausen Division, Best-of-Seven, Semi-Final Playoff Series, 5-4 to the North Okanagan Knights, Friday night in Armstrong.

A sluggish first period saw the Coyotes trail 2-0, a deficit that increased to 3-0 early in the second.

Spencer Fleck and Logan Messer on the powerplay scored just over five minutes apart to pull Osoyoos to within one at 3-2.

North Okanagan responded before the middle period was out, leaving the Coyotes down 4-2 after 40-minutes.

Scott Dyck’s first of two goals, another man advantage marker, made it 4-3.

The Knights regained their two goal cushion, but Dyck had an answer only 38-seconds later, resulting in Osoyoos being behind just 5-4 with more than seven minutes left in regulation.

However, the Coyotes couldn’t get the equalizer despite a hard push, 18-12 shot difference and plenty of chances to tie things, which included a late powerplay.

Levi Brewer and Rylan Konecsni added two assists apiece.

Final shots-on-goal were even at 43.  Hunter Arntsen suffered the loss in net.

Game Two goes Saturday night (Feb. 24th), once again at North Okanagan.  Osoyoos hopes to even the series, prior to returning home for Games Three & Four, Monday (Feb. 26th) and Tuesday (Feb. 27th) respectively.
