A 4-1 first period deficit was too much for the Osoyoos Coyotes to overcome in the long run, the end result being a 7-5 loss to the Sicamous Eagles, Wednesday night at the Sun Bowl Arena.
Even though Osoyoos got to within one twice at 5-4 and 6-5, each time the Eagles would counter punch.
Ethan Torres scored a pair of goals and added an assist. Taynon Charters, Jake Torres in his Coyotes debut and Russell Weatherhead had the other Osoyoos markers.
Jaiden Jakubowski was pulled following the opening period after allowing four goals on 11 shots. Matthew Sowinski took over the final two periods, surrendering three goals on the 24 pucks he faced. The Coyotes actually outshot Sicamous 40-35.
Osoyoos also went two for five on the powerplay.
The (4-6-1-0) Coyotes, who have lost three straight, failed to move further ahead of the last place Eagles in the Bill Ohlhausen Division. Sicamous recorded just its second victory in 11 games and now trails fifth place Osoyoos by only three points.
Next up is a visit from the Nelson Leafs, Saturday night (Nov. 1st) at 7:00, featuring Game Sponsor Nk’Mip Cellars Winery.
