Coyotes Lose to the Chiefs in a Shootout!

In a low scoring and occasional penalty filled affair, the Osoyoos Coyotes were edged 2-1 in a shootout, Saturday night in Kelowna.

The Chiefs led 1-0 after the first, with Ethan O’Rourke tying things in the second, after which the two teams played both a scoreless third period and five minutes of three-on-three overtime.  Mind you, the game wasn’t without its fair share of scoring chances on both sides.  The Coyotes could have very well come out on top as both Jack Henderson and Alex Ochitwa were stopped on overtime breakaways.

Kenny Gerow was solid in goal despite suffering the defeat, turning aside 25 of 26 shots through 60 minutes of regulation.

The single point, combined with Summerland’s loss to Kamloops, gives Osoyoos sole possession of top spot in the Bill Ohlhausern Division by just one point over Steam.

That sets up a first place showdown on Tuesday night when the now 10-2-1-2 Coyotes travel to Summerland.
