Coyotes Remarkably Remain Alive!

The Grizzlies continued their dominance of the Coyotes, beating Osoyoos 5-2, Friday night in Revelstoke.

The Coyotes hung around for a while, actually outshooting their hosts as late as midway through the second period.  However, the Grizzlies were just a bit too much over a full 60 minutes.

The clubs were tied 1-1 following the first period, with Revelstoke taking a 3-1 lead into the third.

Osoyoos got as close as 4-2 in the final period, before the Grizzlies added an empty netter.

Chase Kunn and Ethan Torres, both on the powerplay, scored for the Coyotes.

Final shots were 47-38 in favour of Revelstoke.  Ryder Hunt played a strong game despite allowing four goals.

After 43 regular season games, it all comes down to Saturday night (Feb. 28th) between four teams.  Osoyoos, Sicamous, Chase and 100 Mile House are still battling for the Doug Birks Division crossover playoff spot.  The only reason the Coyotes are still breathing is because of Chase’s 3-2 Friday night win in Sicamous.  Osoyoos needs a victory to give itself the best opportunity to make the post-season.  Anything less than two points will result in elimination.  The Coyotes do hold the first tie breaker, which is the greater number of regulation time wins.

Saturday’s opposition is the Doug Birks Division clinching Kamloops Storm, whom the Osoyoos Coyotes would meet in the opening round of the playoffs.  Face-off time on “Fan Appreciation Night” is 7:00 o’clock at the Sun Bowl Arena, featuring Game Sponsor the Owl Pub & Liquor Store.
