From Worst to First, Coyotes Capture Regular Season Title!

Just two years ago, the Osoyoos Coyotes were at the bottom of the KIJHL Standings.

Flash forward to present day, which has seen Head Coach Carter Rigby and his staff vastly turn around a struggling program in short time.  The result a 2021/2022 Regular Season Championship.

The clincher was Saturday night’s 4-0 blanking of Sicamous at the Sun Bowl Arena, avenging a 9-4 defeat to the Eagles earlier in the season.  That game was incidentally the team’s last regulation time loss, way back on November 13th, now some 27 games ago.

The Coyotes built a 3-0 first period lead on goals from Ethan Floris (shorthanded), Ethan McKInley (powerplay) and Kole Giesbrecht, with Alex Ochitwa adding a second period tally.  Kaleb Kremp and Jack Henderson contributed two assists apiece.

Kenny Gerow earned his third shutout of the season, stopping all 20 shots he faced.  Osoyoos outshot Sicamous 40-20 overall.

There are three more games before the playoffs — Wednesday night (Feb. 16th) in North Okanagan, Friday night (Feb. 18th) at Princeton and Saturday night (Feb. 19th) at home to Princeton.

The Bill Ohlhausen Division, Best-of-Seven, Semi-Final Series between the Coyotes and Princeton Posse gets underway on Tuesday, February 22nd in Osoyoos.
