Hunter Harwood’s two goals helped the Osoyoos Coyotes defeat the Kelowna Chiefs 4-1, Friday night in Rutland.
The offensive Defenceman also added an assist, with Carter Yarish and Coletyn Boyarski rounding out the Osoyoos scoring.
Tempers escalated just past the midway point of the second period after the Coyotes Zach Park put a high hit on a Kelowna player, initiating a complete line brawl. Things eventually settled down, but the result was a 10-minute Chiefs powerplay and Osoyoos having to finish the remainder of the game with only 12 skaters. Remarkably enough, the Coyotes killed off the lengthy disadvantage.
Tayton Stewart and Kenny Gerow shared the goaltending duties. Osoyoos outshot Kelowna 37-29.
Both teams conclude exhibition play by meeting again on Saturday night at 7:35, this time at the Sun Bowl Arena.
