Ryder Hunt (pictured above) stopped all 43 shots to record his second shutout of the season as the Osoyoos Coyotes blanked the Merritt Centennials 3-0, Friday night at the Sun Bowl Arena.
Osoyoos was actually outshot 43-26, but nothing was getting past the Fort St. John native in this one.
After a scoreless first period, the Coyotes struck twice in the second, both coming on the powerplay from Logan Bates and Jake Torres. Ethan Torres potted an empty net goal in the final minute. Taynon Charters had a strong game, adding a pair of assists.
The win moves Osoyoos a point ahead of Sicamous and into fifth place of the Bill Ohlhausen Division, now just one point back of a Doug Birks Division crossover playoff spot.
It’s definitely going to be a challenge. However, two straight victories have helped position the Coyotes well for their three remaining regular season games. They play the second half of a home-and-home in Merritt on Saturday night (Feb. 21st), before travelling to Revelstoke (Feb. 27th) and finishing up at home against Kamloops (Feb. 28th).
