Late Game Heroics Lift Osoyoos Over Kelowna!

Coletyn Boyarski’s powerplay goal midway through the third period proved to be the game winner as the Coyotes doubled the Chiefs 4-2, Friday night in Rutland.

Jarrod Gale added some insurance, with less than three minutes remaining.  This after Osoyoos built a 2-0 first period lead, thanks to Ethan McKinley and Charlie Lockhart tallies, under two minutes apart.

The Coyotes allowed Kelowna to fight back to tie things 2-2, just 42-seconds into the third, before eventually pulling away again for good.  Gale and Boyarski added one assist apiece, with Austin Rampone picking up a helper to record his first junior hockey point.

Both markers by the Chiefs came with the man advantage.  Each team found it difficult staying out of the penalty box, combining for infractions totaling 66 minutes.

Kenny Gerow earned the victory in net, stopping 28 of 30 shots.  Osoyoos outshot Kelowna 51-30, including 18-6 in the opening period and 18-9 over the final 20 minutes.

The two points allow the Coyotes to remain in second place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, keeping pace with Summerland and North Okanagan, who also both won on Friday night.

Osoyoos will have its work cut out Saturday night (Dec. 3rd), when the league-leading Revelstoke Grizzlies come to town for a 7:35 tilt at the Sun Bowl Arena.
