A Pair of Late Penalties Costs the Coyotes!

It doesn’t get much more heartbreaking than what happened to the Osoyoos Coyotes on Friday night.

The Coyotes led for more than 58 minutes, before the Grand Forks Border Bruins rallied to steal a 3-1 victory at the Sun Bowl Arena.

Spencer Fleck’s goal, 8:04 into the second period, held up until the final two minutes of regulation.

The Border Bruins tied things on the powerplay with just 1:49 remaining.  A short time later, Grand Forks was issued another man advantage during which it notched the game winner at the 19:37 mark of the third.  An empty netter 12 seconds after that iced the comeback.

Osoyoos certainly deserved a better fate, outshooting the Border Bruins 44-42.  Jaiden Jakubowski was that close to shutting out the defending KIJHL Champs before suffering the loss.

Saturday night (Oct. 25th), the Coyotes visit red hot Kelowna.  The Chiefs and Princeton are currently dead even atop the Bill Ohlhausen Division.
