Merritt Gains Split of Home and Home!

The Osoyoos Coyotes’ playoff hopes took a serious hit as a result of a 6-3 loss to the Centennials, Saturday night in Merritt.

Just 24 hours earlier, it was the Coyotes who skated to a three goal victory.

After falling behind 2-0 in the opening period, Osoyoos quickly rebounded to tie the game thanks to Kaelen Halowaty and Logan Messer.  The latter coming via the powerplay.

However, the Centennials went on to tally four unanswered, before Kohen Fisher rounded out the scoring late while on the man advantage.  Chase Kunn had a couple of assists.

The shot clock was largely tilted in favour of Merritt by a count of 53-24.  Sam Koester suffered the netminding defeat.

Combined with a Sicamous win at Quesnel, the Coyotes have fallen one point back of the Eagles who are now tied with 100 Mile House for the Doug Birks Division crossover post-season berth.

Osoyoos concludes the regular season next weekend.  Things don’t seem all that promising when having to face the leaders of both the Bill Ohlhausen and Doug Birks Divisions.  Friday night (Feb. 27th), the Coyotes visit Revelstoke, prior to hosting Kamloops on Saturday (Feb. 28th), “Fan Appreciation Night.”  Start time is 7:00 o’clock at the Sun Bowl Arena, featuring Game Sponsor the Owl Pub & Liquor Store.
