Osoyoos Captures Top Spot in the Division!

It’s been a few seasons since a new KIJHL banner has donned the rafters of the Sun Bowl Arena.  However, that all changed on Saturday night in Princeton as the Coyotes clinched first place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division with a 5-1 victory over the Posse.

Playing their third game in four nights and on occasion looking fatigued, Osoyoos parlayed timely scoring, solid penalty killing and strong goaltending into two points.

Jack Henderson tallied twice, while Payton McDonald-Corea, Alex Ochitwa and Kaleb Kremp added singles.  Both McDonald-Corea and Ochitwa also contributed a pair of assists.

The Coyotes killed off all eight Princeton powerplays and even managed a third period shorthanded goal from Kremp.

Then there was the stellar netminding of Kenny Gerow, who made a number of key saves in turning aside 31 of 32 shots.  The Posse outshot Osoyoos 32-28 overall.

Improving to 28-2-2-4, good for 62 points, the Coyotes will continue to push hard in their six remaining regular season games to capture top spot overall and guarantee themselves home ice advantage throughout the playoffs.

The next game isn’t until a week from tonight, Saturday, February 5th in Summerland,
