Park Pots the Game Winner in Overtime!

Zachary Park’s goal 6:54 into the first, sudden death overtime period gave the Coyotes a dramatic 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Summerland Steam on Friday night at the Sun Bowl.  The win gives Osoyoos a 1-0 lead in the Bill Ohlhausen Division, Best of Seven Final.

It marked the second straight game the Coyotes had to battle back from being down, something they weren’t overly used to during the regular season.  This one happened to be a three goal deficit.

Alex Ochitwa, with his first of two, finally got Osoyoos on the board with less than two minutes remaining in the second period.

Crae Dawson pulled the Coyotes to within one at 3-2 ,11:42 into the third, followed by Ochitwa’s game tying marker exactly two minutes later.  That set the stage for Park’s overtime heroics.

Kenny Gerow was pulled after the Steam’s third goal with eight minutes left in the second.  Kenneth Marquart was perfect in relief, stopping all 11 shots he faced the rest of the way.

Osoyoos outshot Summerland 39-22, including 16-7 in the third period and 4-1 in overtime.

The Coyotes will be looking to grab a 2-0 series advantage on Saturday night (Mar. 5th) when they host the Steam for Game Two, getting underway at 8:05.
