Ethan McKinley (pictured above) celebrated turning 21 with a hat trick on Saturday night in helping the Coyotes bury the Wranglers 7-2 at 100 Mile House. McKinley scored in each period, the last of which was a shorthanded effort in the dying minutes of the game. He also added an assist for a four point night.
Jack Henderson had two goals and one helper, Coletyn Boyarski a goal and two assists, with Reese MacLean notching the other marker. The Boyarski, Henderson, McKinley line actually accounted for 10 points. Hunter Harwood contributed a pair of helpers.
Goaltender Kenny Gerow even picked up an assist on Henderson’s first period goal.
Osoyoos went two-for two on the powerplay, also scoring twice while shorthanded.
Things didn’t start out all that well as the Wranglers went up 1-0 only 42-seconds into the game. However, the Coyotes tallied four unanswered, three in the first and one more in the second period to take a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.
100 Mile House got to within two at 4-2 less than eight minutes into the third, before Osoyoos blew things open by counting three late goals in a span of just a-minute-46 to roll to the 7-2 victory, making for back-to-back wins on the road trip.
The Coyotes next visit the Kelowna Chiefs on Tuesday night (Feb. 7th).
