The Osoyoos Coyotes built a 3-0 first period lead and meandered their way through an often chippy contest to defeat the Kelowna Chiefs 7-3, Wednesday night at the Sun Bowl Arena.
Carter Yarish and Jack Henderson each scored twice, with Crae Dawson, Coletyn Boyarski and Ethan McKinley adding singles. Zach Leslie and Hunter Harwood had a pair of assists apiece.
Kelowna actually got to within a goal at 3-2 early in the second, before the Coyotes began to pull away.
Tayton Stewart picked up the win in net in his junior hockey debut, turning aside 29 of the 32 shots he faced.
Osoyoos outshot the Chiefs 48-32, bolstered greatly by a lopsided 24-7 opening period margin.
Next up for the (7-3-2-0) Coyotes is a home ice first place showdown with the Bill Ohlhausen Division leading Princeton Posse, Saturday night (Nov. 5th) at 7:35.
