Coyotes Hold Their Own Against the Dynamiters!

The Osoyoos Coyotes may have opened the regular season with a 4-2 loss, Friday night in Kimberley, but they certainly didn’t make it easy for the defending KIJHL Champions.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first, with Caden Cygan connecting on the powerplay, converting a nifty Logan Messer cross-ice pass.

Garrett Kurtz put Osoyoos ahead 2-1 at the 6:37 mark of the second period, scoring off a seemingly harmless shot from fairly well out.

The Dynamiters evened the game just over two minutes later, leaving things tied 2-2 after 40 minutes.

The third period is when Kimberley began to pull away, tallying a pair of unanswered goals, while outshooting the Coyotes 13-3.

Final shots were 35-16 in favour of the Dynamiters.  Osoyoos netminder Hunter Arnsten made several key saves despite being beaten four times and was full value for his Second Star honours.

The Coyotes continue their East Kootenay road trip in Fernie on Saturday night, before visiting Golden Sunday afternoon.
