Coyotes Stumble in Regular Season Opener!

It looked promising early, Saturday night in Fruitvale, however by the end of the game, Osoyoos was on the short end of a 6-3 decision to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks.

The Coyotes led 1-0 after the first period on a shorthanded goal from Coletyn Boyarski.

By the four minute mark of the second period, it was 2-0, thanks to a Hunter Hardwood tally, but things began to unravel from there.

The Nitehawks scored the next three straight to take a 3-2 advantage into the final 20 minutes, dominating the middle period, which included outshooting Osoyoos 19-5.

Kieran Christianson tied the game just over a minute into the third.  However, Beaver Valley soon restored its lead, adding two more in cruising to the win.  The Nitehawks actually scored six of the last seven goals.

Shots were 41-29 in favour of Beaver Valley.  Despite allowing six goals, Kenny Gerow kept the score respectable with a number of quality saves throughout.

It was quite evident missing the top line of Jack Henderson, Zach Park and Carter Yarish, all out because of suspension, along with the loss of Crae Dawson to injury, certainly hampered the Coyotes offence.

The Osoyoos Coyotes will try to bounce back next Tuesday night, September 27th, when they visit the Summerland Steam.
