Slow Start to the Season Sees the Coyotes Drop Their Second Straight!

The Osoyoos Coyotes took the play to the Steam for most of the game, however the final result was a 3-2 overtime loss, Tuesday night in Summerland.

Following a scoreless opening period, Hunter Harwood got the Coyotes on the board with his second goal of the season, just 19-seconds into the middle period.  The Steam tied things, only to have Zach Park restore the Osoyoos lead at 2-1 a little over two minutes later.

The Coyotes held Summerland at bay for the majority of the third and when the Steam took a penalty in the final two minutes, one couldn’t help but think Osoyoos would hang on for its first win of the year.  The only thing that could prevent that is a shorthanded goal, but that’s exactly what happened.  While a player was sitting in the penalty box, Summerland scored on a breakaway to tie the game at 2-2 with just 1:29 remaining in the third period.

The Steam completed the comeback at 3:02 of overtime, leaving the Coyotes stunned and still winless.

Osoyoos outshot Summerland 28-21 as Kenny Gerow suffered his second consecutive loss to begin the season.

The Coyotes hope to bounce back at home this coming weekend when hosting 100 Mile House on Saturday night at 7:35 and Fernie, Sunday night at 6:05.
