Shorthanded Coyotes Derail the Steam!

Dressing only 14 skaters didn’t seem to be an issue for the Osoyoos Coyotes, who blanked the Steam 5-0 on Saturday night in Summerland.  Regulars Zach Park, Jarrod Gale, Carter Yarish and Zach Leslie were all sidelined with respective injuries.

The Coyotes went ahead 2-0 on first period goals from Coletyn Boyarski and Ethan McKinley, the former a shorthanded tally.

That lead held up until the 13:50 mark of the third, when Osoyoos struck three times in a span of just three-and-a-half minutes.  Jack Henderson scored twice, one on the powerplay, while Hunter Harwood added a single to put the game completely out of reach.

Payton McDonald-Corea, Ethan Floris and Coletyn Boyarski had two assists apiece.

Rhett Harkot (pictured above) was perfect in net, recording the team’s first shutout of the season, turning aside 24 shots.  The Coyotes outshot the Steam 27-24.

A fourth straight win also resulted in a 10th consecutive road victory.

Osoyoos travels to Princeton next Tuesday night (January 24th) to face the league-leading Posse.
